BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (3-3-1, 0-0-0 Southland) dropped a tight contest at Southern (1-4-0, 0-0-0 SWAC) in the Colonels' non-conference finale, faltering by a final 2-1 margin to the Jaguars on Sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge, La.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS

Blaire Laiche opened the scoring for both teams just over 10 minutes into the match, pushing the Red & Gray out to a quick 1-0 edge behind her sixth goal of the season. The Jaguars responded with two goals in quick succession approximately 30' into the contest, holding on for the eventual 2-1 victory.
-- Despite the loss, Nicholls outworked Southern in every major statistical category, posting an advantage in total shots (17-to-12), shots-on-goal (13-to-10) and corner kicks (5-to-3).
