RUSTON, La. -- The Nicholls State University women's volleyball program (6-2, 0-0 Southland) fell for the second consecutive match in Saturday morning's wrap-up to the LA Tech Invitational, dropping a straight-sets contest to Louisiana-Monroe (6-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) despite consistently challenging the Warhawks throughout the tight loss.

KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- After a close first set (25-21) put the Colonels behind, the Red & Gray attacked the Warhawks to open the second, jumping out to a 15-10 advantage early on. ULM managed to fight back into the set, though, eventually pulling off a 28-26 victory and securing a two-set edge, setting up a decisive third-set victory (25-19) to lock down the match.
-- Individually, freshman OH Jackie Alanis & sophomore MB Aaliyah Burras buoyed the Colonels' offense throughout, combining for 17 kills for the day.
-- Junior S Meghan Wozniak collected all but three of the team's assists in the match, generating 33 in total.
-- Defensively, sophomore DS Kylie Lockhard & senior L Emily Venable handled a majority of the digs, posting a joint 21 on the day, while sophomore OH Emily Gauthreaux led the way in blocks (3).

UP NEXT
With the LA Tech Invitational concluded, the Colonels pack their bags for one final non-conference tournament: the South Alabama Invitational, set for Friday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 21 in Mobile, Ala.
