THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University softball team will have six games over the next five days, starting with the Mardi Gras Mambo this weekend at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
The Colonels (4-8) will be one of 13 teams playing in the event, taking on Jacksonville State, Alcorn, Middle Tennessee, Detroit Mercy, and ULM.
Following an off-day on Monday, Nicholls returns home to host South Alabama on Mardi Gras Tuesday.

Nicholls has won its last two after notching its second run-rule win at home on Tuesday. The Colonels used a five-run third to pull away from Southern while
Emily Danehower turned in another strong outing in the circle in the 8-0 victory.
Kennedy Hebert,
Caitlin Garcia and
Samantha Dares have powered the offense so far, combining for 10 home runs and 21 RBIs. Hebert was named Southland Hitter of the Week on Monday after hitting a homer and doubling in the Colonels' win over Purdue.
In the circle, the team has a 6.37 ERA but has received some impressive performances in the first weeks. Danehower nearly shut out Purdue last weekend, while
Jordan Moon took a tough loss in extra innings against Butler after allowing just one hit.

Admission: $10 Adults, $5 for Children 5-12, Free for Children under 5. Souvenir programs will be sold at the tournament for $5.

Following the weekend's five games, Nicholls will welcome South Alabama to Swanner Field at GeoSurfaces Park on Mardi Gras Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
