SENIOR PROFILE: Baseball's Adam Tarver

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nicholls State University Athletics, in conjunction with the Southland Conference, announced on March 14 all remaining competitions and championships for the 2020 season would be canceled.

Women's tennis, men's tennis, baseball, softball, outdoor track, and beach volleyball all had their seasons cut short and with that, several seniors did not have the opportunity to finish their athletic careers as Colonels.

Nicholls will honor the seniors who have decided to end their athletic tenures for the Red and Gray.

Student-Athlete: Adam Tarver
Sport: Baseball | #26
Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.
Major: Finance
Graduation Date: May 2020

Tarver joined the Nicholls Baseball program as a member of the 2015 Signing Class before taking the field for the first time during the Spring of 2016. The Baton Rouge, La. native competed his initial two active seasons as a right-handed pitcher, compiling a 10-3 win/loss record, eight saves and a 4.93 overall ERA across 51 total appearances on the mound (one start).

Following a season-ending injury in 2018 along with a medical redshirt, Tarver returned for two more seasons representing the Red & Gray, collecting 60 total starts at first base to close out his career. Notably, he emerged as not only one of the lineup's most powerful hitters -- racked up nine home runs, 37 RBIs and 52 total hits -- but also a valuable team leader, earning team captain status during both the 2019 & 2020 campaigns.

"Adam was a true leader and a warrior on the field," Nicholls head baseball coach Seth Thibodeaux said. "I wish he could play for a championship. He means a lot to our staff, and he taught us a lot. He told me something during the [COVID-19 outbreak] that will stick with me...'Coach, this pandemic didn't happen to us, it happened for us.' Congratulations Adam on your graduation, you will be a true Colonel for life."
