HAMMOND, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team was beaten 12-2 by Southeastern on Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field on Thursday night.

Southeastern responded in the third inning as they plated runs with consecutive hits to go up 2-1. Both teams went scoreless in the fourth before the Colonels tied the game via a
Keegan Giger base knock that brought
Nico Rijo-Berger home.
The Red & Gray offense went cold as the Lions scored two runs in the sixth before exploding for five in the seventh and three in the eighth to enforce the run rule.
Overall, the Colonels had nine hits and left 10 runners stranded. Rijo-Berger led the unit with three hits while
Logan Terry and Milam added two hits apiece.
Dawson Richard picked up three strikeouts while allowing eight hits and four runs in six full frames to move to 3-2 on the season.
For Southeastern, starting pitcher Nik Toups allowed six hits and two runs in four full frames before Webb Truitt (5-2) and Logan Freche pitched two stanzas apiece. Brody Capps and Peyton Woods led the Lions with three hits apiece while Connor Cuff added two.
