THIBODAUX, La. -- Tuesday afternoon, Nicholls State University head track & field/cross country coach
Stefanie Slekis announced the program's postponement of the Fall 2020 Nicholls XC Invite to the Spring 2021 season, official date to be determined. Earlier this August, the Southland Conference opted to push the entire league's athletic slate a full semester, per a release
here.
"With the postponement of Southland Conference fall sports and the current NCAA recruiting dead period, we will not be hosting the University and High School teams on our home course at the Nicholls Farm on September 26th this year," Slekis said. "We wish the high school teams the best at the 44th Annual Dr. Richard Morvant Invitational that E.D. White plans to host at an alternate location. Once more details are outlined by the NCAA and Southland Conference on what a spring cross country season will look like, we are excited to explore dates to host the 3rd Annual Nicholls Cross Country Invitational during the spring 2021 semester. We look forward to hopefully hosting the University and High School races at the Nicholls Farm next fall as we continue to prepare and update our course for hosting the 2021 Southland Conference Championships."
