BATON ROUGE, La. -- Just two weeks removed from kicking off the indoor season at the LSU Purple Tiger, the Nicholls State University track & field program returns to the same facility -- the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse -- for the Louisiana Invitational, a one-day meet open only to NCAA Division I programs within the state, first event slated for the morning of Friday, Jan. 29 in Baton Rouge, La.

"I'm looking forward to our teams getting the opportunity to compete again at LSU against all Division I Louisiana schools," head track & field coach Stefanie Slekis said. "We've had two weeks to train and work on what we wanted to improve on from our opener before the women's team heads to Birmingham in another two weeks.

"Omo Oboh had a solid final in the 60m Hurdles after shaking the rust off so were looking for her to pick up in the prelims where she left off two weeks ago and run an even better final this weekend. I'm excited for Jerrian Brown to race the 800m after having such a strong opener in the 600m and 400m. He's been working hard to improve the final stretch of his 800m race so this will be a great opportunity to see that progress before we get in another big training block before the Southland Conference Indoor Conference Championships."

After wrapping up the program's second LSU-hosted meet within a two week span, the Colonels shift focus out-of-state as preparations begin for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships, traveling the Red & Gray women's squad to Birmingham, Ala. in early February for the Samford Indoor.
