THIBODUAX, La. -- Following a back-and-forth contest featuring opportunities on both sides, the Nicholls State University women's soccer program (0-10-0, 0-6-0 SLC) narrowly fell short in the team's first home match of the 2021 campaign against in-state rival Southeastern (4-5-1, 3-2-1 SLC), surrendering a lone goal to the Lady Lions midway through the second half en route to a slim 1-0 loss late Saturday afternoon at the Nicholls Soccer Complex in Thibodaux, La.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- While the Colonels concluded the contest trailing in both total shots (17-to-6) and shots-on-goal (10-to-2), the Red & Gray proved more than a match for Southeastern throughout, consistently fighting off aggressive pushes from the Lady Lions while constantly findings way to disrupt the offensive rhythm. The lone score of the afternoon clash came following a few deflections inside the Nicholls box, eventually leading to SLU securing the decisive advantage en route to the victory.
-- Between the pipes, sophomore
Reagan Carter composed a third-straight notable outing as the squad's solo goalkeeper, grabbing eight saves for the match.
