THIBODAUX, La. - Playing one final time in 2021 at the Nicholls Soccer Complex, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team put up a valiant effort against the visiting UIW Cardinals but fell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day.
Before the match, the program recognized the lone member of the '21 Senior Class,
Maegan Terrell.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- UIW struck in the 23rd minute with a flurry of shots following a corner kick. Three of the attempts were blocked in front of the net by the Colonel defense before Sierra Wannamaker snuck one by goalkeeper
Reagan Carter.
-- The Cardinals' second goal came via penalty kick as Keeley Ayala went to the ride side of the net for a 2-0 early in the second half.
-- UIW had a 12-5 advantage on shots. Nicholls had five different players with an attempt with
Junel Quintero's shot being on goal.
-- Carter totaled three saves in the net.
UP NEXT
The Colonels will play their final match of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 29 at Southeastern. Kickoff in Hammond is scheduled for 7 p.m.
