JACKSON, Miss. - Searching for its first road victory in the early going, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team fell against Jackson State, 75-59, Tuesday night at the Williams Center.
The Colonels (1-2) were down in the first few minutes then grabbed a 9-8 lead on a
Deonna Brister 3-pointer. But Jackson State (1-10) regained the advantage a minute later and never trailed the rest of the way.Â
Chelsea Cain came off the bench for a team-high 15 points and
Chyna Allen scored 14. Allen had a solid first half with 10 points but Nicholls shot just 27 percent from the field to fall behind 41-26.
In the third quarter, Nicholls put up 20 points but could not slow down the Lady Tigers, who scored 22.
Traya Bruce had one of her five assists on a
Chelsea Cain jumper that cut the deficit to 44-35, however, JSU answered right away with a Miya Crump 3-ball. JSU held a double-digit lead for rest of the night.
Ameshya Williams led all scorers with 20 points to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Dayzsha Rogan poured in 18 for JSU and was one of four Lady Tigers with four assists.
