THIBODAUX, La. - A pair of 20-point outings by
Ty Gordon and
Devante Carter and a dominating effort on the glass by the Nicholls State University men's basketball team led to a 87-58 victory Saturday afternoon on Broussard Court at Stopher Gymnasium.
With the win, Nicholls upped its record to 5-3 overall and 3-0 at home. The game counted as an exhibition for Southwestern Christian, which competes on the NAIA level.
Gordon sank four 3-pointers and shot 8 of 17 from the field for a game-high 22 points. Carter's 21 points came off of 9 of 16 shooting.
In holding the Eagles to 35 percent from the field, Nicholls dominated in rebounding with a 53-30 advantage. It helped pave the way for 32 second-chance points.
Emmanuel Little was the top rebounder with 14 to go along with 9 points.
Pierce Spencer and
Latrell Jones chipped in with 11 points each. Jones was 3 of 7 from 3-point range.
Southwestern Christian was led by Derek Dantzler with 16 points,
