THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's and men's tennis programs have finalized their spring schedule for 2022, tennis head coach
Greg Harkins announced Thursday.
Between the two teams, Nicholls will have 12 matches at the Colonel Tennis Complex. Both Southland Conference championships starting April 22 are scheduled to be held in New Orleans.
The women begin their 20-match season on Jan. 28 against Loyola New Orleans. Their first home contest will be on Feb. 7 against in-state foe Southern. The Colonels will have eight matches in Thibodaux including hosting Sam Houston, Louisiana Tech, and Missouri State for their nonconference slate.
The Southland Conference season starts on March 19 against rival Southeastern. Senior Day will be in the home finale on April 7 versus New Orleans.
The men begin their season with a tournament, taking part in the Ragin' Cajun Winter Invite in Lafayette on Jan. 21-22. Their first dual match is also at Loyola on Jan. 28 and the home opener follows on Jan. 30 against Prairie View A&M.
Nonconference matches include Purdue, LSU, South Alabama, and Southern Miss.
Nicholls will have three SLC matches -- all on the road. The Colonels take on New Orleans on Feb. 9, then play at UIW (March 31) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (April 3).
