THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team came up scoreless in their matches this weekend against Samford, on Friday, 7-0, and Jacksonville State, on Sunday, 4-0.
The Colonels' first matchup Friday, accounted for Nuria Martin Lopez's first single's loss of the season, 6-4, 6-4. She was the Colonels' lone scorer in their first match of the season against South Alabama.
In a close doubles matchup, Laura Lopez and Martin Lopez fell 7-5. Simona Maksimovic and Nikita Pinto lost 6-0, Morgan Forshag and Carla Bouygues were defeated 6-2.
Sunday, in singles play against Jacksonville State, Nikita Pinto lost 6-2, 6-3, followed by losses from Maksimovic 6-3, 6-4 and Martin Lopez 7-5, 7-3. In doubles play, Pinto and Bouygues fell 6-2, with a loss following by Forshag and Lopez, 6-1.
The Colonels' record dropped to 0-3 after these matches and their next match is at Loyola New Orleans on Tuesday, February 24.
