Women's Soccer falls at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (0-4, 0-1 SLC) endured a tough non-conference road test at battled-hardened South Alabama (11-4-1, 10-3-1 Sun Belt), faltering by a final 8-0 margin to the Jaguars late on Sunday afternoon at The Cage in Mobile, Ala.

KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- After surrendering zero first half goals so far this season, the Colonels gave up five in Sunday's match with the Jaguars, enduring 28 total shots in the opening period alone as South Alabama offense maintained consistent pressure on the Red & Gray box. While the second half proved less fruitful for USA (notched just three goals), the Colonels struggled to push possession across midfield, logging just one total shot for the game.
-- Freshman Reagan Carter made her fourth start between the posts, picking up a career-high 13 saves despite still allowing the five first half Jaguar goals. Fellow freshman Valeria Vargas Leon stepped in following the break, earning one save while surrendering three goals herself in her collegiate debut.

UP NEXT
With the non-conference clash at South Alabama concluded, the Red & Gray turn their attention back to the Southland slate, trekking north for a pair of contests this upcoming weekend at Northwestern State (Feb. 26) and Central Arkansas (Feb. 28) to close out the month.
