Colonel Men's Tennis earns road win at St. Mary's (TX)

SAN ANTONIO - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team gave St. Mary's University its first loss of the season in its match in San Antonio, Texas, Friday afternoon. The Colonels defeated St. Mary's 5-2.

Though the Colonels lost the doubles point, only having one team claim a victory, they were able to get five singles competition points to win the entire match.

Pavle Drobnjakovic was the first to earn a point for the Colonels in singles action with his 6-4, 6-1 win over St. Mary's Brendan Brown. Antonio Sasso followed that point with another, when he scored 6-4, 6-3 in his game.

The Colonels lost in court 1, but Omar Morsy, Ricardo de Sales Chaves Machado and Antoine Martin-Thiriat got Nicholls three more points. Morsy won his game 6-2, 6-2, followed by a win from Machado 6-2, 6-3.

Martin-Thiriat lost his first game 2-6, but came back to win the final two 7-5, 6-4, to secure the final Colonel point.

In doubles competition, Prasanna Pravin Bagade and Griffin Babineaux won against Ryan Koth and Brown 7-6 (7-4).

The Colonels are now 4-2 and they will be traveling to Abilene, Texas to compete against Abilene Christian, Sunday, March 14 at 11 a.m.
