Omaha slips by Colonel Women's Tennis, 4-3

THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team fell short, 4-3, in its match against Omaha, Tuesday afternoon, at the Colonel Tennis Complex. 

All of the Colonel's points came from singles competition, with scores from Carla Bouygues, Nuria Martin Lopez and Morgan Forshag.

Forshag was the first to earn a Colonel point with her 6-2, 6-0 win over Omaha's Marie Kapelevich.

Bouygues was the next to score for the Colonels. She lost her first game 1-6, but came back to win her final two 6-2, 6-1. 

Martin Lopez won her first game 6-2, but fell short 2-6 in the next. She came back to win the final game 6-0, scoring the final point for the Colonels. 

In doubles competition, the Colonels lost court 2 first, but Martin Lopez and Nikita Pinto won court 3 for the Colonels 6-1, tying up the competition for the point. However, the doubles point was lost for the Colonels when Omaha won court 1. 

The Colonels record dropped to 4-9, and the women's next game is Sunday, March 21 against Xavier at 2 p.m. in the Colonel Tennis Complex.
