LAFAYETTE, La. -- Highlighted by yet-another record-breaking performance out of Chelsea Harrington, not to mention a second-consecutive gold medal, the Nicholls State University track & field program wrapped up a strong return to outdoor competition Friday and Saturday at the Louisiana Classics following a two-year hiatus from the sport, securing two new marks on the school's all-time Top 10 rankings in addition to 35 personal records.

KEY STORYLINES & FINISHES
-- Just under three weeks removed from resetting the program indoor long jump record at the Southland Conference Championships, Harrington notched, once again, her best-ever leap -- indoor and outdoor -- for the event, vaulting a new outdoor school-best 5.94m (19-6) for a gold medal. All-in-all, the junior managed to beat out the previous record-holder, Sakinah Abdul-Aziz (2016), by 1.75 inches.
-- Meanwhile, fellow junior Omo Oboh impressed in her return to the 100m Hurdles, clocking a 14.58s performance en route to second on the program all-time list along with ninth overall for the event.
-- The Colonels secured numerous new personal marks while at the Louisiana Classics, including: Amiya Matthews in the 200m Dash (26.38), High Jump (1.56m), and Shot Put (10.17m); Troynae Walker in 100m Hurdles (15.05); Augusta Marie Christensen in 5000m (20:26.53); Megan Nevlud in both the 800m Dash (2:23.07) and the 1500m (4:44.92); Eleana Callejas in the 1500m (4:51.81); Hailey Alcorn in the 200m Dash (25.25); Briana Land in the 200m Dash (26.65); Summer Seal in the 800m Dash (2:33.64); Elsa Rijpstra in the 800m (2:23.94) and the 1500m (4:47.88); Lara Reifers in the 800m (2:39.48) and the 1500m (5:05.70); Skyler Goodman in the 1500m (5:22.58); Emily Blanchard in the 5000m (21:08.49); Anginique Andrews in Long Jump (5:05m); Donnell Adair in Discus Throw (43:51m); Isaac Hayes in 110m Hurdles (16.84); Olari Livingston in both the 800m (2:02.60) and the 1500m (4:12.31); Allen Langston in 100m Dash (12:02); Tharon Blanchard in the 800m (2:07.05) and the 1500m (4:21.86); DeAndre Grooms in the 800m (2:09.05) and the 1500m (4:33.85); Alex Keller in the 800m (2:09.39) and the 1500m (4:22.62); Wesley O'Neal in the 800m (2:07.77) and the 1500m (4:32.51); and Dustin Wager in the 800m (2:19.58) and the 1500m (4:33.72).

With the outdoor opener concluded, the track & field season continues just under a month from now on Apr. 10 at fellow Southland member Southeastern Louisiana, trekking north to Hammond, La. for the Strawberry Relays.
