NEW ORLEANS - The Nicholls State University men's and women's tennis teams competed against Xavier at XULA Tennis Center in New Orleans, La., Thursday afternoon. The men's and women's teams both lost, 4-1 and 4-2, respectively.
On the men's side,
Griffin Babineaux was the lone scorer for the Colonels. In his game, he won 6-3, 6-2 against Xavier's Juan Varon.Â
In doubles action,
Antonio Sasso and Babineaux fell 6-3, followed by a loss from
Piyush Surendra Salekar and
Ricardo de Sales Chaves Machado, 6-2.
The women's team earned their two points in singles action, with
Morgan Forshag and
Laura Lopez winning their games.Â
Forshag defeated Xavier's Lindsey Dixon 6-0, 6-1, followed by a win by Lopez against Angelica De Vincenzi 6-0, 6-3.Â
In doubles play,
Simona Maksimovic and
Carla Bouygues fell short 6-1, followed by a loss from
Nikita Pinto and Lopez 6-3.Â
The men's record dropped to 4-7, 0-1 SLC and their next match is Tuesday April 6, against Southern Miss, at the Colonel Tennis Complex, at 2 p.m.
The women's record dropped to 4-12, 1-6 SLC and their next match up is Saturday, April 3, against New Orleans at 2 p.m. in New Orleans.Â
