FRISCO, Texas -- Late Thursday morning, the Southland Conference officially announced the league's 2021 All-Academic cross country selections, naming Nicholls State University sophomore Elsa Rijpstra to the women's second team. Notably, the Dutch import clocked a 6k personal record 21:23.22 for an eighth overall individual finish at the SLC XC Championships earlier this March, the program's highest placement since 2012, while posting a perfect 4.0 GPA as an allied health major.

Throughout the shortened cross country campaign, Rijpstra consistently served as the Red & Gray's top performer, kicking off the year with a new personal best in the 5k along with her first-ever top placement at the HBU Season Opener before clinching a top 20 showing at the FSU XC Invitational.
