THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team competed against the University of the Incarnate Word, Sunday morning, and fell short 5-2 at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
In singles competition, Piyush Surendra Salekar fell short in his first set against Pietro Perego 3-6, but came back to win the second and tie breaker sets both 6-2.
Ricardo de Sales Chaves Machado defeated UIW's Dennis Boisseau 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles competition, Griffin Babineaux and Machado were leading 5-3, when UIW claimed the doubles point with two 6-2 victories in courts 1 and 2.
The men's final match will be tomorrow, April 19, at 1 p.m. against New Orleans at the Colonel Tennis Complex. Axel Cronje will be honored for Senior Day at the match. The tennis program will also have a crawfish boil with plates available for purchase for $12.Â
