THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University softball team will play its final nonconference game of the spring with a Tuesday matchup at South Alabama. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.
 
Nicholls ended an 11-game drought against South Alabama last year in a 4-3 16-inning game on Mardi Gras Tuesday at Swanner Field. Jordan Moon was outstanding in the win, tossing 9.2 inning with no runs allowed on just two hits. The Colonels won the game on a Caitlyn Garcia single with the bases loaded.
 
Nicholls (8-16) is coming off a series sweep against Southeastern Louisiana, dropping all three games at home. The Colonels forced extras in the second contest but still came up short in securing a win against the Lady Lions. 
 
South Alabama is 17-11 on the year after snapping a three-game skid last week with a 1-0 win over Southland member McNeese.
