LAFAYETTE, La. -- Late Thursday morning, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) officially announced the 2020-21 All-Louisiana Cross Country teams, naming Nicholls State University sophomore Elsa Rijpstra to the prestigious honor roll. Notably, the Dutch import clocked a 6k personal record 21:23.22 for an eighth overall individual finish at the SLC XC Championships earlier this March, the program's highest placement since 2012.

The 16-member team – eight on each the men's and women's side – were recognized based on top recorded times during the 2020-21 season. The specialty awards (Runner of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year) were selected through nominations by the state's cross country sports information directors.

Throughout the shortened cross country campaign, Rijpstra consistently served as the Red & Gray's top performer, kicking off the year with a new personal best in the 5k along with her first-ever top placement at the HBU Season Opener before clinching a top 20 showing at the FSU XC Invitational.
