Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Nicholls drops pair in roadtrip conclusion, reschedules ULM for mid-October

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (0-9-0, 0-5-0 SLC) dropped back-to-back matches over the course of a fifth-straight weekend out on the road, initially falling by a 2-0 margin in a hard-fought league contest at UIW (1-8-1, 1-3-0 SLC) on Friday evening in San Antonio, Texas before stumbling by a final 2-0 mark to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-5-2, 2-1-2 SLC) on Sunday afternoon down in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Additionally, the Colonels and Louisiana-Monroe managed to find an ideal date to reschedule their originally-canceled match from earlier this month, slating the non-conference contest for Sunday, Oct. 17 in Monroe, La., kickoff set for 5 p.m. Just four weeks ago, Nicholls and the Warhawks were forced to cancel their Thursday, Sept. 2 clash due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida.

KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
GAME ONE at UIW (L 0-2) -- Friday, Sept. 24
-- The Cardinals managed to dominate time of possession as they consistently maintained pressure on the Red & Gray half of the pitch, jumping out ahead midway through the first half before earning an insurance goal with just under 20 minutes to play.
-- In net, sophomore Reagan Carter contributed a blue-collar effort as the team's solo goalkeeper, collecting a season second-best 11 saves while surrendering just the two goals.

GAME TWO at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (L 0-2) -- Sunday, Sept. 26
-- The Islanders struggled to find any first-half rhythm in spite of their total shot advantage, entering the midway break knotted with the Colonels at 0-0; the second period, however, proved enough for A&M-Corpus Christi to finally outgun the Red & Gray, grabbing a lead early in the half before sealing the contest behind a score with just under 15 minutes left.
-- Carter, once again, put in a valiant effort between the pipes, swiping 10 saves for the match -- good for her third-highest total of the year -- while allowing the pair of scores.

UP NEXT
With the five-week road trek completed, the Red & Gray return to the friendly confines of the Nicholls Soccer Complex for the first time this season, hosting the team's home opener against in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, Oct. 1, kickoff slated for 4 p.m.
