Rieger promoted to Associate Head Coach

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University head tennis coach Greg Harkins announced Wednesday the promotion of Tavis Rieger to associate head coach.

"Coach Rieger has been a tremendous asset to the program since his matriculation, "Coach Harkins said. "He gets the job done and is a big part of Colonel Tennis today and where we are headed in the future!!!!"

Rieger joined to program in the spring of 2019 as the first full-time assistant in Nicholls Tennis history.

"Coach Rieger is a tireless worker," Harkins said. "He spends late nights in the office as our Chief Recruiting Officer (CRO) securing high-level players from across the nation and overseas to help make the program competitive on the court and in the classroom. He devotes endless hours on the road with the programs and is always available for sage advice to the student-athletes as they traverse through the trial and tribulations of becoming fine young men and women during their college years."

"Coach Rieger is accessible within the community, always making connections to further the goals of the program and has become a bridge builder within administrative circles at the University," Harkins added. "Recruiting goals are being met, culture of the program is healthy, administrative needs are addressed in a timely manner and his impact within the program is appreciated day in and day out."

Nicholls Tennis is set to open its spring season Friday, Jan. 28 at Loyola University New Orleans. First ball is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the City Park Tennis Center.
