NEW ORLEANS - The Nicholls State University women's and men's tennis teams began their 2022 spring season with a pair of dominating victories against Loyola University New Orleans Friday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
The women's team (1-0) shut out the Wolf Pack 7-0 and won all six singles matches in straight sets. The men (1-0) came away with a 6-1 win after sweeping doubles and earning four straight-set victories in singles.

Carla Bouygues secured the point for Nicholls. Loyola's lone win of the day came on the No. 1 court.
Nicholls cruised in singles action highlighted by
Jessie Mount's shutout at No. 3 in her Colonel debut.Â
Sophia Sara Safarova was also successful in her first match by winning No. 2 singles.Â
Simona Maksimovic, Forshag, Lopez and Bouygues were the other winners in singles.

Antonio Sasso each claimed a win in doubles.
Antonio Sasso highlighted singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Samuel Motazed on the No. 5 line.
Nicola Wehrle won his Colonel debut in straight sets, and Morsy and Salekar joined him with straight-set victories.
Pavle Drobnjakovic outlasted Theo Debackere in three sets while LU's Francisco Arce captured the lone point for the Wolf Pack by defeating
Ricardo Machado at No. 2.

The Nicholls men's tennis will make its home debut on Sunday, facing Prairie View A&M. First ball at the Colonel Tennis Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m. The women will head to ULM next Saturday for a doubleheader against the Warhawks and Grambling.Â
