PASADENA, Calif. – Nicholls State University football's all-time leading receiver
Dai'Jean Dixon had an impressive performance for the American Team in the 2022 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, finishing with a game-high 131 yards receiving and a touchdown Saturday evening in the Rose Bowl.
Dixon, an All-American honoree and three-time All-Southland First Team selection, hauled in six passes which included an 11-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, and highlight 47- and 27-yard catches. He was targeted eight times in the game and had at least one reception in each quarter. His other three catches went for 23, 10, and 13 yards. Dixon also drew a 28-yard pass interference.
Dixon's TD helped the American Team to a 17-3 third-quarter lead before the National Team rallied for a 25-24 victory.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is a post-season college football all-star game for NFL draft-eligible college players, held annually in January. The event was founded in 2012 by the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). Players predominantly, but not exclusively, are from teams within the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
A native of New Orleans and graduate of Edna Karr, Dixon left Nicholls as the all-time leader in receptions (236), receiving yards (3,802), touchdown catches (35), 100-yard receiving games (13), and points scored (216). Along with being the only Colonel in team history to record two 1,000-yard seasons, Dixon also set a single-game record of 14 receptions while tying the program mark of 198 yards in Nicholls' near victory at nationally-ranked Louisiana. Of his 13 100-yard games, eight came against FBS programs or nationally-ranked FCS teams. He also posted a 92-yard outing at Kansas State.
Dixon was a standout throughout his career in Thibodaux, hauling in at least one pass in 50 straight games -- two shy of matching Los Angeles Rams Cooper Kupp's FCS record of 52.
