THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's soccer team remained winless in league play as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi claimed a 4-0 victory on Sunday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Prior to the match, Nicholls recognized its four-member 2022 Senior Class --
Reagan Carter,
Karina Gonzalez,
Madison McReynolds, and
Rami Mitchell. Carter faced a barrage of shots and totaled 13 saves, which matched her career high, while Mitchell accounted for one of the Colonels' four shots.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi put the pressure on the Nicholls (2-14-1, 0-10 SLC) defense for most of the match with a season-high 28 shots. Rachel Loetzer scored twice for the Islanders (8-5-1, 5-3-1 SLC), finding the back of the net for the first and final AMCC goals. Mai-Lisa Atis and Megan Guy had first-half goals as the Islanders led 3-0 at the intermission.
On offense for the Red and Gray, freshman
Hanah Gonzalez had two of the team's four shots. Gonzalez scored the lone goal for the weekend in Friday's 3-1 loss to UIW. For the third consecutive match, Nicholls was held to no corner kicks.
