Late HCU Surge Downs Colonel Women's Soccer, 3-0

HOUSTON, Texas - The Nicholls State University women's soccer team held Houston Christian University to a scoreless tie through 65 minutes, but the Huskies found their offense late for a 3-0 victory Friday evening at Sorrels Field.

While Nicholls (2-11-1, 0-7 SLC) had opportunities in the first half against HCU as the Huskies held a slim 12-8 advantage in shots, the second half was a different story. The Colonels were outshot 15-3 after the intermission but did not allow a goal until the 66th minute.

Katie Marker snuck one past Colonel goalkeeper Megan Cook in the 66th minute and not even 60 seconds later, Ryan Ford lifted one over Cook for a 2-0 lead. Juliana Anchond added a goal down the stretch for the 3-0 victory.

Despite allowing three goals, Cook notched seven saves with five coming in the second half. Chloe Bagshaw earned the win for HCU with one save.

The Colonels were led on offense by Koryn Barrett and Shelby Nickal with three shot each with one on goal.
