ABILENE, Texas -- The Nicholls State University Women's basketball team was defeated 76-36 by Abilene Christian University on Monday night.
The Colonels got off to slow starts in both halves only scoring six points in the first quarter and nine points in the third. They scored 10 points in the second quarter and 11 in the fourth.
Overall, the Colonels shot 22.6 percent (12-53) from the field, compared to the Wildcats who shot 50 percent (31-62) from the field. Additionally, the Wildcats hit 11 3-pointers and generated 34-12 points in the paint advantage.
Sophomore guard
Amelia Sandie and freshman forward
Lexi Alexander paced the Red & Gray scoring seven points apiece. Alexander added eight rebounds to her stat line.
Junior center
Kate Manley was the most efficient Colonel, hitting three of seven shots to finish with six points and 3 rebounds.
For ACU, they had four individuals score in double figures. Maleeah Langstaff led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She hit seven of 14 shots and three of five from behind the arc.
Zoe Jackson added two 3-pointers to finish with 12 points. Maddi Miller and Aspen Thornton scored 11 and 10 points while adding two triples of their own.
