FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University guard
Ty Gordon has been named Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for a league record sixth time, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Not only is the six the most in a single season, but his eight weekly honors also sets a league career mark.
Gordon averaged 29.5 points and 3.5 assists per game in the Colonels' two wins last week. The Tunica, Mississippi native scored a career-high 31 points in the victory over McNeese, shooting 12-of-21 (.571) from the field and drilling five 3-pointers. He also tied his season high with five assists.
He followed it up with 28 points against HBU on 9-of-16 shooting (.563) with five more 3-pointers and a pair of assists.
Gordon's scoring average moved over the 20-point mark once again, ranking 16th nationally at 20.2 per game. He also maintains the eighth-most three-pointers made per game among Division I student-athletes (3.61).

Nicholls will play its final three road contests of the season, taking on Northwestern State and Southeastern this week. The matchup against the Demons on Thursday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
