THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the season, knocking off Southern University 4-0 Monday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
Nicholls swept doubles play including a hard-fought tiebreaker win on line 2 by
Constanza Cruz and
Carla Bouygues. The strong play carried over into singles play where the Colonels won three courts to clinch the team victory.
"The team showed a very solid mindset and great energy through all the matches", said Cruz, who teamed up with Bouygues for an 7-6 (8-6) win to cap doubles play.

Sophia Sara Safarova started things off with a 6-1 victory at No. 3, and
Jessie Mount/
Laura Lopez secured the point with a 6-2 win.
In singles play, Forshag, Bouygeus and Safarova all won their courts 6-0, 6-2. Lopez, Mount and
Simona Maksimovic all claimed a 6-3 win in their opening sets before play was suspended.
