Gordon named to Henson All-America squad

BOSTON, Mass. - Nicholls State University men's basketball's Ty Gordon added another honor to his resume as he was one of just 40 players to be named to the 2021-22 Lou Henson All-America Team, presented by CollegeInsider.com.

Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

With the honor, Gordon is up for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year which will be announced on April 1 in New Orleans. The award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

The 2022 Southland Player of the Year, Gordon averaged 20.8 points per game which ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA. He garnered a league-record seven player of the weeks this season and became the first Colonel to earn player of the year since 1995.

Gordon was lethal from 3-point range, sinking a program record 103 3-pointers which ranks fifth all-time in a single season in the Southland. He also set an arena record with nine made 3-pointers in the Colonels' late December game at Purdue.

Gordon was the lone player from the Southland Conference to be recognized on the Henson team.
