FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University softball's
Alexa Poche' has been named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
A sophomore from New Orleans, Poche' had a monster weekend at the plate in the Black and Gold Tournament, batting .562 as she totaled nine hits with two home runs, two doubles, and drove in six. She hit safely in all five games and tied a school record with a 4-for-4 day in the first win over Alabama State, blasting a three-run homer in the process. She also homered and had an RBI double in the finale against North Alabama.
Poche' ranks second on the team this season with a .351 batting average and is tied for first in the Southland with 19 RBIs. Her six home runs is also the second most in the league.
ON DECK
Nicholls will head to the Bevo Classic, hosted by the University of Texas, for five games this weekend. The Colonels takes on the host Longhorns as well as Minnesota and Drake. All five games will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
