NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team rallied back from a 3-0 deficit against Stephen F. Austin but could not complete the comeback as the Colonels were defeated, 4-3, Sunday afternoon.
After dropping the doubles point and Courts 3 and 5 in singles, Nicholls (11-10) came back with victories by
Carla Bouygues at 4 and
Jessie Mount at 2. Bouygues won in two sets, 6-4, 6-2, and Mount started a string of three-set battles that closed out match.
Needing just one more point, SFA (11-8) got the clincher on Line 6 as Ai Noa Fabre outlasted
Morgan Forshag, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Simona Maksimovic won on the top court for the Colonels, picking up a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
