PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Nicholls State University's
Ty Gordon is scheduled to participate in the 68th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.
The Portsmouth Invitational is the oldest amateur basketball tournament in the United States of America and the only postseason camp exclusive to college basketball seniors. It begins Wednesday, April 13 through Saturday.
Gordon is one of 64 players set to play in the invitational. He will suit up for Porstmouth Sports Club and their first game is Thursday at 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. central.
Gordon had an outstanding final season for the Colonels, ranking 13th in the NCAA in scoring at 20.8 points per game en route to being named Southland Conference Player of the Year. He repeated as a first-team all-league selection and set a new program single-season record with 103 made 3-pointers.
A native of Tunica, Mississippi, Gordon saved his best performance for his Stopher Gym finale, scoring a career-high 36 points in the Colonels' championship-clinching victory over New Orleans. In his two seasons at Nicholls, the team won consecutive outright Southland regular season championships.
