NEW ORLEANS – The 2022 Southland Men's Tennis Tournament has been narrowed down to four teams after No. 5 Nicholls defeated No. 4 NJIT 4-1 Friday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
The Colonels (11-9), after losing the doubles point, rallied back to secure the next four points of the match in singles action.
Nicola Wehrle tied the match 1-1 on court six after a straight set 6-3, 6-0 win.
Antonio Sasso put Nicholls ahead 2-1 in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 on court five.
Omar Morsy extended the Colonels lead 3-1 after notching a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 win in flight one.
Antoine Martin-Thiriat sealed the deal in Nicholls 4-1 victory after a 7-6, 6-3 win on court four.
Nicholls advances to the Semifinals where they will face No. 1 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
