Women's Tennis drops home finale against New Orleans, 5-2

THIBODAUX, La. - With two seniors in the lineup, the Nicholls State University women's tennis team received victories in singles by the duo but the Colonels came up short against New Orleans, falling 5-2 Thursday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex.

Nicholls (11-8, 3-2 SLC) recognized its seniors before the match - Morgan Forshag, Jessie Mount, and student manager Coraline Lamer - and Forshag and Mount proceeded to win their singles home finale. Mount was perfect on the day as she teamed up with Laura Lopez for a victory at No. 1 doubles, but New Orleans (10-8, 3-2 SLC) won two out of three to clinch the point.

The Privateers went on to spoil senior day, winning four singles matches in straight sets. Mount won on the No. 3 line, 6-3, 6-3, against Estelle Vanthier. Forshag took her first set at No. 6 against Lea Alguacil but after the team victory was clinched, she outlasted Alguacil in a tiebreaker with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 win.

Simona Maksimovic, Sophia Sara Safarova, Lopez, and Carla Bouygues all dropped their singles bouts in two sets.
