LAFAYETTE, La. - Nicholls State University's
Ty Gordon has repeated as an All-Louisiana selection for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Men's College Basketball team. The LSWA named Gordon its player of the week three times during the season, once in December and twice in February, en route to being named All-Louisiana First Team.
Gordon was named Southland Conference Player of the week a league-record seven times en route to him earning conference player of the year and first-team All-Southland honors. Additionally, the Tunica, Mississippi native, was named to the CollegeInsider.com 2021-22 Lou Henson All-America Team, NABC All-District second team, and was USBWA All-District VII.
Gordon had an incredible final season for the Red and Gray, ranking 13th in the NCAA in scoring at 20.8 points per game and set a new program single-season record with 103 made 3-pointers. He was also a force on the glass and defensive end racking up 95 rebounds and 42 steals. This season he had four games with 30 or more points including his 36-point outburst in his final home game in Stopher Gym to help the Colonels earn the team's second consecutive outright Southland regular-season championship.
In his first season with the Colonels in 2020-21, Gordon was a second-team all-state recipient as Nicholls won its first of two straight Southland Championships.
LSU's Tari Eason was named the state's player and newcomer of the year, while teammate Brandon Murray won the honor for freshman. Loyola University New Orleans head coach Stacy Hollowell received coach of the year after leading the Wolf Pack to a national championship.
The teams are selected by a media panel that includes sportswriters, radio broadcasters, and sports information directors. SIDs are not permitted to vote for their own players.
