THIBODAUX, La. - On Wednesday, the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the organization's 2021-22 Team Academic Award recipients, selecting Nicholls State University women's track & field unit to the prestigious honor roll for the third consecutive year. The Colonels posted a 3.216-grade point average to claim their highest mark since receiving the honor.
To be nominated, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the team must be over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Additional factors that play a role include semester and quarter hours from the most recent grading period. Nicholls head track & field coach
Stefanie Slekis expressed her pride in the team's effort on and off the track.
"I'm so proud of our women's track team for earning USTFCCA All-Academic team honors for a third year in a row with the cumulative GPA yet," Slekis said. "Every member of our team works hard to not only do well in their coursework but prepare for the future and what they plan to do with their chosen degree. I think this award is a great representation of that hard work coming together."
