THIBODUX, La. – Nicholls State University head softball coach
Justin Lewis announced Thursday the addition of four pitchers for the upcoming 2023 season. Joining the Colonels are Abby Andersen, Jensen Gremillion, Audrey McNeil, and Molly VandenBout.
Anderson comes to Thibodaux after playing one season at Arizona State. The Chandler, Arizona native started 15 games in the circle in her lone campaign for the Sun Devils, going 10-7 with 28 strikeouts while posting a team-best 4.14 ERA. She logged a win over Texas A&M and tossed two shutouts which included a near no-hitter against Lehigh.
Gremillion joins the Colonels after playing her first two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Community College. A native of Plaucheville, Louisiana, Gremillion was 12-6 last season with 125 strikeouts in a total of 119.2 innings pitched. She logged five complete games, highlighted by a school record 17-strikeouts in a nine-inning victory over Kaskaskia.
McNeil played in the Southland Conference her first two seasons, making 34 appearances in the circle for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In 2022, the Plano, Texas native recorded wins over Northern Colorado and Northwestern State. She also had a solid showing against Baylor, throwing 4.1 innings with four hits allowed and no earned runs.
VandenBout was a pitcher and played at first base at Temple College in Texas. Last season, she tossed 110.1 innings with 78 strikeouts, finishing with a 9-5 record and a 3.62 ERA. At the plate, VandenBout hit .421 with 17 home runs, 17 doubles, and had 64 RBIs.
