THIBODAUX, La. - After battling to a scoreless draw for over 80 minutes, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team allowed a late goal to Tarleton as the visitors picked up a 1-0 victory Sunday in the final match of the Lester Bimah Battle on the Bayou at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
The Texans (1-0-1) notched their first win in program history thanks to a goal by Rylee Lowe in the 85th minute. From the right side just outside of the box, Lowe snuck a shot inside the post past Colonel goalie
Reagan Carter for the winner.
Nicholls dropped to 0-2 on the season after Tarleton held a significant 14-5 advantage on shots. The Colonels looked to have scored their second goal in as many games to start the season, but a goal in the 19th minute off a perfectly placed corner kick was waived off due to offside. Nicholls had five different players record a shot in the loss.
Carter totaled six saves for the day and the defense was able to block another two attempts.Â
