WAIPAHU, Hawaii - Although the Nicholls State University women's soccer team came up short in claiming its first victory of the season, the Colonels started their Hawaii trip with a 0-0 draw against Hawaii Pacific Thursday night in the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
In addition to the draw, the Colonels (0-2-1) notched their first shutout of the season thanks to a three-save effort by redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Megan Cook, who made her first career start. HPU (0-0-1) fired off 12 shots in the contest but only three were on target.
Nicholls totaled six shots with half being on goal.
Jaden Jeter accounted for two shots with one shot on goal, while Karina Gonzelez and
Ny'Jha Keller added one each.
Koryn Barrett and
Shelby Nickal were also credited with a shot.
Cook saw all 90 minutes at goalkeeper and a total of 22 Colonels saw time on the pitch. Jeter also went the distance for the Red and Gray, playing all 90 in the draw.

Nicholls will have two days off before taking on host Hawaii on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. central/ 2 p.m. local time.
