THIBODAUX, La. -- The Nicholls State University cross country teams accumulated five top 10 finishes as the hosts of the fourth Annual Nicholls XC Invitational on Saturday, at Nicholls Farm.
The Colonels women's unit had four individuals finish under 20 minutes and place in the top 10. The first Colonel to cross the finish line was senior
Elsa Rijpstra who finished the 5k course in 18:23.53 to place second. Finishing slightly behind Rijpstra and earning third place was junior
Elaina Hansen posting a time of 18:48.16. Junior
Megan Nevlud ran the course in 19:17.70 to claim seventh, while senior
Ceren Yilmaz placed ninth after recording a time of 19:28.25.
The Nicholls men's squad was led by junior
Randy Canady who crossed the finish line in 20:39.68 to earn eighth place. Sophomore
Luke Futey finished the course in 20:50.15 and graduate student
Dustin Worley ran the course in 21:45.33 to claim 11th and 15th place, respectively.
Overall, the women finished second with 42 points behind UIW (27), while the men finished third with 75 points behind Texas A&M University-Commerce (47) and UIW (18).
