Colonels Falter in Final Road Match

Hammond, La. – The Nicholls State University soccer team fell 2-0 to Southeastern at Strawberry Stadium on Sunday night.
 
The teams battled for nearly a half hour without a goal on the board. However, in the 29th minute the 0-0 tie was broken when Hailie Yoder connected with Hanna Moffatt to put the Lady Lions up 1-0 going into the intermission.
 
Mya Guillory scored via a header off the free kick from Emma Jones with nine seconds left in the contest to clinch the 2-0 victory for the Lady Lions.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Cook was active all game, facing 21 total shots and recording nine saves in her 10th start of the season.
 
The Colonels took four total shots with three on goal. Freshman forward Brooke Cox took two shots with one on target, her classmate Kelsey Villatoro also took one shot on goal, and sophomore midfielder Lillie Mazur took one shot on target.
 
The physical rivalry match for the Crystal Cup saw 14 fouls and three yellow cards.
