SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Nicholls State University cross-country teams competed in the Southland Conference Championships Friday, Oct. 27 at Windcrest Golf Course.
Overall, the men's team placed 8th place and the women's earned themselves 7th place.
The men's team had three runners in the top 50 of the 8k race, and all three Colonels placed consecutively one after the other.
Lucas Futey was the first Colonel to cross the finish line, coming in 45th place in a time of 28:10.3. Teammate
Goran Duijsters was next at 46th place, with a time of 28:12.5, followed closely by
Avery Morgan, coming in 47th in 28:22.1.
The women had four team members place in the top 50 of the 6k course. Leading the way was
Sophia Harrison, who came in 29th place, with a time of 23:27.5. Next for the women's unit was
Kassidy Besson. The freshman came 36th running the course in 24:01.1. Following right behind her was fellow freshman teammate
Maria Nikolaou who earned 37th place in 24:05.8. The last Colonel to place in the top 50 was
Issy Rivault, placing 41st in 24:13.7.
