SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Nicholls State University soccer team fell 3-0 to UIW at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium on Friday night.
The scoring began when UIW's Brianna Mata broke free and found the back of the net nine minutes into the match. Just before the intermission, Zara Dominguez scored from nearly 30 yards out (36') to give the Cardinals 2-0 lead.
In the 89th minute, Sierra Wannamaker converted a penalty kick to extend the Cardinals lead to three.
The Colonels were out shot 22-4 with
Berkley Payne,
Koryn Barrett,
Peyton Bastine, and
Sara Sigurdsson taking the shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Elizabeth Zepeda started for the seventh time this season and finished the contest with 14 saves including nine in the first half.
