KINDER, La. – The Nicholls State University Men's and Women's Basketball programs will take part in the 2023 Southland Basketball Media Day, set for October 10 at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, La.  

All 20 Southland Conference men's and women's basketball teams will have representation in their head coach and a selected student-athlete. The event will air live on ESPN+, with the broadcast beginning at 10 a.m. CT.  The Colonels' portion is scheduled to air at 11:22 a.m. CT. 

Tuesday's broadcast will feature a unique programming experience on-site with David Saltzman, King McClure, Austyn Iven, and Lily Gayle live at the Coushatta Casino Resort, including in-depth interviews, one-on-ones, and roundtables featuring the head coaches of the Southland Conference. 

Representing the Colonels will be first-year head coaches Tevon Saddler (MBB) and Justin Payne (WBB), along with Jamal West Jr. (MBB) and Lexi Alexander (WBB). 

Also on Tuesday, the men's and women's preseason teams and polls will be announced. 

SOUTHLAND TOURNAMENT
The 2024 Jersey Mike's Southland Basketball Championships, presented by ExploreLouisiana.com, will take place on March 10-13 for the men and March 11-14 for the women at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, La. Last month, the Southland Conference announced the extension of the Southland Basketball Championships through 2029 in Lake Charles at the Legacy Center.
