THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team used stout defense to coast to a 68-36 victory over Dillard University inside Stopher Gym on Tuesday night.
Senior guard
Kyla Hamilton scored 8 of her 11 points in the first half and helped Nicholls close the first half on a 17-4 run to hold a 30-15 advantage at the intermission.
In the second half the Colonels led by as much as 32 and went on an 18 point scoring run in the middle of the third quarter to create distance between the Bleu Devils.
Junior forward
Deonna Brister led the team with 12 points and five rebounds. Senior guard
Traya Bruce hit two triples and a pair of free throws to finish with eight points.
Senior center
Kate Manley hit three field goals and one shot from the charity stipe to score seven points. Senior guard
Ashley Malone scored six points, while freshman guard
Betzalys Delgado stuffed the stat sheet with five points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
Sophomore forward
Lexi Alexander, junior forward
Daelyn Craig, junior
Violette Skipworth, and freshman
Adyson James finished with four points apiece.
