FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University pitcher
Audrey McNeill has been named Southland Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
McNeill was outstanding for the Colonels in their league opening series against UIW, picking up two wins to lead Nicholls to a series victory against the Cardinals. She tossed all five innings of the 10-2 run-rule victory on Friday, surrendering only two late runs in the fifth. She came back and pitched a seven-inning shutout on Saturday and allowed just three hits -- all singles. For the series, she was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA and struck out seven in 12.0 innings.
A transfer from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, McNeill is 6-3 this season and ranks third in the Southland with a 1.63 ERA.
The honor is McNeill's first weekly award as a Colonel and the first pitcher honor for the program since 2019. She is the second weekly SLC winner this season for Nicholls, joining
Melise Gossen who earned hitter of the week in late February.
