HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Nicholls State University beach volleyball team secured a point in each of its two matches in the opening day of the Beach Burg Invitational on Friday but came up empty in Saturday's action.
Nicholls opened the tournament with a 4-1 setback against Central Arkansas. The duo of

Aspen Steele took a straight-set victory on the No. 2 court. Although it was the only point for the Colonels,

McKenna Malone/
Bethanie Durant and
Taylor Heeb/
McKay Wilson all took their courts to a third set.
In the second match against host Southern Miss, the Jones/K. Steele duo came away with a 23-21, 22-20 win on the top court against Reagan Sandlin/Taylor Pierce. But unlike the opening game, the Colonels fell in straight sets in the other four courts.
Saturday saw the Coloneld drop 5-0 matches to New Orleans and Southern Miss. Against the Golden Eagles, Chuong/A. Steele earned a close victory in the opening set before fall 18-21, 21-11, 15-7.
